Happy #FECFilingDay for those who celebrate. But Zach, you ask, wasn& #39;t filing day last week? It was for quarterly filers! Today& #39;s the deadline for monthly filers: the Trump and Biden campaigns, party committees and a lot of super PACs. I& #39;ll thread interesting stuff here
And make sure you& #39;re subscribed to Morning Score if you& #39;re not already! We& #39;ll have a full roundup of the filers in tomorrow& #39;s edition https://www.politico.com/morningscore/ ">https://www.politico.com/morningsc...
. @TulsiGabbard, who dropped out halfway through March, raised $449,000 and spent $915,000. Expenditures that stuck out to me: Print and radio advertising in American Samoa (where she won her only delegates) totaling about $6,000. Good return on investment! http://docquery.fec.gov/cgi-bin/dcdev/forms/C00693713/1402317/">https://docquery.fec.gov/cgi-bin/d...
Don Blankenship, the failed Senate candidate who famously coined Cocaine Mitch, is now running for president with the Constitution Party. He didn& #39;t spend a dime in March. Not gonna get many votes ... but how& #39;s he even going to qualify to be on the ballot? https://docquery.fec.gov/cgi-bin/forms/C00725309/1402358/">https://docquery.fec.gov/cgi-bin/f...
Progressives seem to be coalescing around @SamelysLopez in the open #NY15, one of the bluest districts in the nation. @AOC& #39;s newish leadership PAC Courage to Change maxed out to Lopez, and other prominent New York progressives have backed her as well https://docquery.fec.gov/cgi-bin/forms/C00692202/1397462/sb/ALL">https://docquery.fec.gov/cgi-bin/f...
(I really wanted to go up to NYC to write a story on this primary because it is super interesting to me, but coronavirus has really ruined that, ugh)
I& #39;m also going to thread some quarterly filers that I haven& #39;t had a chance to read yet into this thread while we wait (like AOC& #39;s leadership PAC), so don& #39;t get too confused! Didn& #39;t have time to tackle all of the quarterly filers last week, with all the candidate filings
Here& #39;s @BernieSanders filing (reminder, this covers the month of March). He raised just under $33 million and spent $35.5 million. Still had $16.2 million in the bank at the end of the month https://docquery.fec.gov/cgi-bin/forms/C00696948/1402435/">https://docquery.fec.gov/cgi-bin/f...
Interestingly, Sanders raised more from itemized donors ($16.9 million) than unitemized ($15.9 million), which I think is the first time that& #39;s happened. As I& #39;ve said on past filing deadlines, that& #39;s not because of a rush of big donors.
