A thread...Let me try an analogy that some of us will understand. Today, we are defending against this virus with 1 ½ bullets. We get one bullet for effective distancing and ½ bullet for the current state of testing. Every day that we slow the spread of the virus...(1/6)
is a day to build more bullets: rapid testing, serology, PPE, hospital capacity, treatments and toward a vaccine etc. Only when we have enough bullets should we decide to go on OFFENSE. We are not there yet, but we will be soon. (2/6)
But we are human, and there is uncertainty and fear. Those emotions cause us to do weird things. Resist those emotions & channel them into something more productive – service, sacrifice and courage. We rightly honor our parents who served and sacrificed in WWII. (3/6)
They did it for years. We have been at this for 6 wks. Use their example for something more effective than protests & shouting. We have the internet, a reliable food chain, health and healthcare, and a social safety net that is the most robust in the history of the world. (4/6)
Our parents did not have those things. They made it. We can too. Rise above the anger and remember science over ideology. Let’s build up our weapons against the virus so we can get back to work and stay there. If you get mad, use that energy to volunteer... (5/6)
