Bill Gates is a controversial figure.

In an effort to reduce controversy (and maybe out of fear or status), some have sought to shut down any debate over Gates.

This thread will dispel those arguments. In fact, I'll argue that they violate ethics and are even immoral.

THREAD
I grew up idolizing @BillGates.

I spent 8 years of my childhood in Washington.

Gates is a nerd and co-founder of Microsoft.

He's always been into science and tech. After all, his father was the head of the largest county and sat on the national board of Planned Parenthood.
Gates has spent this part of his life reshaping philanthropy with The Giving Pledge and specific causes of his own. He wants to solve big problems.

He's a huge proponent of vaccines.

He wants to end malaria in Africa, though most find the results lackluster.
In October of 2019, he held a summit where they mocked the response to a global pandemic with Gates-funded experts.

The event was called #Event201.

Coronavirus started in China just weeks later, November 2019.

It's been widely criticized fueling some conspiracy theories.
Still, it's worth noting that there's been so much criticism that the organization was forced to publish a statement I'll link here.

What is truly troubling is that the organization didn't publish a brief with recommendations. No helping governments. https://www.centerforhealthsecurity.org/event201/
This is odd.

What was the point of the event if it wasn't going to prep governments and NGOs? Fetish? I don't know.

No one has gotten a satisfactory answer.

What are the experts that participated in the event doing to help slow the spread? Why weren't they first?

#Event201
Bill Gates, facing public scrutiny, pledged $10 million to fight the coronavirus on Jan 26. Recipients were China and Africa.

Gates is worth $100 *billion.*

Facing even more public backlash, Gates pledged $100 million on Feb 5.

Media has done a poor job of reporting on this.
On March 11, Gates announced that $50 million of that $100 million budget to specific pharmaceutical companies working on treatments and therapies.

April 15, the Gates Foundation pledged another $150 million bring his #coronavirus total to $250 million. Started with $10M.
Microsoft has faced some backlash too. They partnered with a controversial artist, Marina Abramović, in the middle of this pandemic to announce a creepy project for the elites.

The announcement received unprecedented backlash. A week later, a WIPO patent would be weirder.
All this is to say that Gates has a major PR problem over his pet issues. He's fighting.

This isn't superfluous. Why?

Gates wants to do more than advocate for treatments and therapies. He wants to craft *public policy* and compulsory policy at that.

He needs our buy-in.
This isn't my video but it's worth watching.

1) Bill Gates' proposal is that 7 billion people take one vaccine. A vaccine differs from therapy or a treatment, by the way.

2) He wants corporations indemnified (can't be sued).

continued...
3) He has said we need permission slips proving vaccination for travel and work.

4) He has argued for a National Shut Down order, which most believe to be unconstitutional here in the United States.

5) No economist, but he's made comments about how the economy must differ.
It is UNETHICAL to say that Bill Gates can comment on public policy and he's immune from debate.

It is IMMORAL to deprive the public of decisions regarding compulsory vaccinations, choosing who should die, or restricting travel or work.
It's worth noting criticisms of Gates come from an informed place which isn't a requirement for being self-governing but helps.

SARS has no vaccine.
No coronavirus has a vaccine.

They want to pretend this is a debate over science (it's not; public policy) and avoid science!
That we should craft public policy under an assumption that is improbable is tyranny and unscientific.

It weds our decisions now not to likely probabilities (that happen to be lessening our liberties) but near impossibilities.

Shame on anyone who censors debate over Gates.
I'll teach you how to debate. 🧠❤️

1. Contextualize the debate: public policy, not medicine
a. meritocrat v. technocrat
2. Ethics
a. indemnification
b. compulsion
c. tax dollars
3. Morality
a. compulsion
b. travel, work
4. Science https://www.pscp.tv/w/1lDGLgMlvOMKm
