Since there may never be more Twin Peaks, might as well enjoy The Return rewatch with one of my favorite episodes: Part 11 "There's Fire Where You Are Going." THREAD 1/
When I had the chance to hang out with the lovely, talented and very funny @SarahJeanLong42 I told her how I felt that Miriam was the Ronette of Twin Peaks: The Return. 2/
The scene in which Shelly runs out on Norma at the RR reminds me of the scene in which Laura runs out on Shelly in FWWM. 3/
The filming location of the building where Steven and Gersten hide is located right at the cursed intersection where Richard runs over the little boy in North Bend, Washington. 4/ https://tmblr.co/Z7xdtX2jVBOky
My favorite scene of Part 11 is at The Zone, which is also one of my favorite and most difficult to find filming locations. Thank you to @samhowzit for this brilliant discovery! 5/
Tammy's scoff at Gordon's "He's dead" is my favorite moment of Chrysta Bell's performance in Twin Peaks: The Return. 6/
The entire scene at (and outside of) the RR is about intergenerational trauma, the inability of parents to prevent their own children from repeating their mistakes often with tragic consequences. 7/
That little nod of encouragement reminding Becky to apologize to Shelly reveals so much of the subtle beauty of Peggy Lipton's performance. 8/
And now we're bringing you live footage of protests all over America... 9/
Not sure if this was intentional but Gordon's hand shaking reminds me of hands shaking in Episode 27 of Season 2. 10/
Note how Diane is differentiated from everyone else in the scene not only with her smoking, but also her seating arrangement. 11/
During his 90th birthday celebration last year in LA, I had the chance to learn not only more about Don Murray's illustrious Hollywood career but also his humanitarian work and he is a true mensch. 12/
The cherry pie scene with the Mitchums in the desert is one of my favorites in The Return. Funny, unexpected, absurdist, it's David Lynch at his best. 13/
The filming location outside Lancaster, California is the hardest to get to out of all Twin Peaks locations. Creepy, very out of the way, littered with empty shotgun shells, it's perfect for the plan Mitchums had in mind for Dougie. Thank you @snoqualmieCarl for finding it! 14/
After the cherry pie in the desert scene, the scene at Santino's feels like its tonal opposite and the moment when the Lady Slot-Addict thanks Dougie is one of the most touching in the whole series. Once again, Twin Peaks is masterful at mixing genres and tones. 15/
The filming location of Santino's is The Prince, a Korean restaurant in Los Angeles. I really cherish the great memory of visiting it with my dear Twin Peaks friends last year. 16/
Angelo Badalamenti's "Heartbreaking" lives up to its name during the end credits, and this episode exemplifies everything that makes Twin Peaks an exceptional work of art: horror, humor, heartbreak and deep empathy. 17/
