Several weeks ago I was diagnosed with Covid-19, this has been my experience so far. It was pretty damn scary and I didn’t wanna talk about it for a bit. For the record this is Randy, a healthy 35 year old with no pre-existing conditions.
March 12th - I woke up feeling tired, feeling a cold coming on. I knew I was sick. I was on tour, we had two shows left and then the tour was cancelled. We had to drive from Denver to Chicago and then drive back to Gainesville.
March 16th - I returned home, quarantined myself away from my girlfriend. Set up to use all disposable dishware, separate room, separate bathroom, separate door to the outside, spot for her to put my food, walk away, I’d take my food, and then the table would be wiped down.
March 17th - went to the ER with fever, cough, chest pain. Wanted to get tested. docs said though I had symptoms and traveled to every major city over the last month, I didn’t leave the country/they could not test me cuz not enough tests. Was told assume I had it, and go home.
March 22nd - I celebrated my 35th birthday, still quarantined. Jessica helped me make it as fun as it could be though. Big props to @ChrisGethard for keepin me laughing
March 23rd - woke up coughing blood as well. Jess rushed me to ER. Was admitted to the hospital. had developed a pneumonia and tested + for Covid. This was the scariest day of my life. I truly thought I was not going to make it. O2 levels were low, got breathing treatments
March 27th - My breathing and O2 levels had gotten better and my fever was gone so the doctors decided to discharge me. I was told to stay quarantined and come back with any issues.
April 3rd - still was having chest pains and labored breathing, along with severe headaches, excessive gas and other GI issues. went back to the ER. Got x-ray’d and told my pneumonia had cleared up and my blood work came back good. kept me for 8 hours to monitor me and sent home
April 6th - I was able to come out of quarantine!

April 7th - I proposed to Jessica and she said yes!

April 9th - Back to the ER trouble breathing/GI issues, coughing lots of foamy mucus/headaches. xrays and blood tests good. told it would be another 2 weeks before better
April 15th - follow up visit via telehealth. weighed myself and lost 20lbs in less than a month. doctor said my symptoms were normal for someone who had fought the virus and pneumonia and lost that much weight. I was told to try and eat as much as possible and drink ensure.
April 19th - I stopped losing weight, my headaches have mostly subsided and my stomach is getting much better. I’m still pretty tired and get a little dizzy and winded if I try and do too much, but overall feeling much better.
I don’t have insurance, my bill was $16,000. hospital has been lowering it, now at $9,500.

They can not test me again to see if I truly recovered because even now we STILL do not have enough tests. How can we open back up if we can’t even accurately test people?
