Mrs. America falls into the trap of a lot of hist scholarship on American conservatism & right wing: in an effort to “understand” or “complicate” or “typologize” the right they blur the fact that these groups ultimately seek to preseve their material interest in racial capitalism

Which is why the sympathetic presentation of Schlafly as simply having a “false consciousness” doesn’t track — she’s not just a failed or repressed feminist she has a vested interest in maintaining the white supremacist patriarchal family

Anyway they should have just made a show about Shirley Chisholm imho
