Lessons to be Learnt from Srimath Bandaranayaka Mawatha Covid 19 Incident!

1 Lady with her Husband and Sons Returned to Sri Lanka from Dambadiva Pilgrimage on 12th March.

There was no Quarantine Mechanism in Sri Lanka for Arrivals from India by then. (1)

The Lady has had symptomps but have hidden the information.

On 15th April 2020 the Son of the Lady Makes a Call to IDH mentioning that his mother has symptom and admits her to IDH, Tests Positive. (2)

April 16 2020 - Family Members Taken for Quarantine. Said 149 Garden Locked Down

17th April 2020 - 3 Members from the Family tests positive. Few Neighbors taken for Quarantine. (3)

One of the Son has sold Facemasks to A Pharmacy in Dehiwala. Masks Set Fire and Pharmacy Sealed. Pharmacy people Quarantined.

18th April 2020 - 6 People Tested Positive from the Neighborhood who were taken for Quarantine. (4)

19th April 2020 - A Pregnant Lady from the same Garden Goes to Castle Street Hospital due to pains. Tested for Covid19. Result Positive. She is taken straight to IDH Hospital. Security Officials takes everyone in the Garden to Quarantine Centres. (5)

20th April 2020 - By Morning 24 New Covid19 Positive Cases Identified.

IN THE SAID GARDEN THERE LIVES A SALOON MAN (ALREADY TESTED POSITIVE), VEGETABLE VENDOR AND MANY OTHERS WHO HAVE HAD CONTACTS WITH PEOPLE. (6)

THE SAID GARDEN, ALTHOUGH THERE WAS CURFEW, HAD ENGAGED IN GROUP ACTIVITIES SUCH AS GAMES, EXCHANGED FOODS AMONG HOUSES AND WAS ACTIVELY ENGAGED WITH ONE ANOTHER (7)

RESULT: WITHIN 5 DAYS, 46 PEOPLE TESTED POSITIVE SO FAR FROM THE SAME GARDEN. (7)

MORAL LESSON: DON'T TAKE COVID19 LIGHTLY. THIS IS VERY SERIOUS.
