Evanescence was formed, initially as a duo, by Amy Lee and Ben Moody after they met - as teenagers - at a camp in the town of Little Rock in 1994.
They were always very focused on composing their own songs, Evanescence made few live performances with friends until the contract with Wind Up Records arrived.
However, before signing a contract, Amy faced her first challenge: playing on local radio. Because they had a FEMALE vocalist, the radio producers refused to play Evanescence’s songs.
Although she never thought that the difficulty they had in the beginning was due to having a woman leading the band, Amy did not stop believing in her dreams as an artist.
In this video, she also talks about the Fallen recordings.

With the success of “Fallen”, the band& #39;s routine became full of commitments and stress took over. Some people knew how to deal with it, others...
And so we arrive to one of the BIGGEST challenges for the band and Amy: the departure of Ben Moody, co-founder of Evanescence, in the middle of the European tour, in 10/22/2003.
Amy was asked to beg him to stay, but guess what, she didn’t.

According to Amy, the relationship with Ben had not been well for a long time and the two were no longer friends.
There have always been rumors that Amy and Ben had a romantic relationship, due to several interviews in which Amy cites an abusive relationship, some fans linked the dots and associated that relationship with Ben.
Information sources went so far as to confirm that Ben was psychologically abusive to Amy and that this situation was never exposed to the members of the band or they would get into a heavy confrontation.
“Ben is dramatic. He did a lot of irrational things, so you learn not to be surprised. Ben was a really unhappy person. When he was gone, we felt like the weight had lifted off our shoulders. I have pictures of that day, we look silly. ” - Amy Lee
Even though many people though the band would not make it without Ben, Amy demonstrated that she could lead the band herself
However, this was a dark era for Amy since the media and the fans had divided comments about the situation.
Some people saw Ev’s/Amy’s future uncertain and Ben’s future brighter since he was writing for singers like Kelly Clarkson and Avril Lavigne

In 2006, Amy Lee updated the band& #39;s old forum with bad news: Terry Balsamo had suffered a stroke in 2005, leaving his left side paralyzed but recovering.
I was planning to make an entire closing tweet clarifying this but i’m adding this one so you all can know i have her permission.
