#RPGMaker2020 I've gotten pretty far into Chrono Trigger (plan to finish it) and there's a lot that stands out. I'd argue that this game has aged fantastically and for people who want a fun RPG to play in these trying times, here's an online emulator: https://www.emulatorgames.net/roms/super-nintendo/chrono-trigger/
Firstly! It was a breath of fresh air to experience an RPG of this era that doesn't have random encounters! Having the ability to dodge enemies is satisfying and fights feel purposeful. As a player, I learn which areas of the map are safe and when to prepare #RPGMaker2020
Characters position themselves at the start of battle and their proximity to enemies determines whether ranged characters will use a melee attack, if a multi-attack will work, or which enemy will target a party member first. #RPGMaker2020
The world map is not something to be feared and it rewards approaching different structures or formations to see if any secrets lie in wait. Again, no random encounters here so it's not a chore to travel (because you will do a Lot of it) #RPGMaker2020
This game keeps you guessing and throws you for a loop in a world of straight forward stories of adventure in games like Dragon Quest. Choices matter, and the game emphasizes this early on when you are put on trial with your behavior during the first act as evidence #RPGMaker2020
Being thrown into different times is also surreal, just when you expect a typical fantasy setting and then perhaps going between one or two different time periods, you're taken to a dystopian future with corpses littering ruins of once lively biodomes #RPGMaker2020
Merchants are available throughout the game in all time periods but there are efforts to make their responses make sense. Mystic inns and shopkeepers also raise prices for the human characters, or don't serve you at all, to emphasize the animosity between them #RPGMaker2020
I could go in detail of some story elements so far and how its notorious for its absurd amount of endings but for now I'm going to keep playing the game and see things for myself! Check this one out it's worth the hype
