It's concerning to see that a lot of planned prescribed burns are being canceled because of the pandemic. These burns will help reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfires later this year (at least in some western ecosystems). Photo is a March burn at my family prairie in Kansas.

It's probably hard to do Rx fire without any social contact, so it involves some risk. But I worry that the risk of not doing it is far greater, in terms of loss of life and stress to emergency systems that are already maxed out.
