The busy city of Los Angeles is home to the dirtiest air due to the cars and factories that emit smog and gasses that pollute the air. #LAsmog is still a big problem today and there is not much that politicians are doing about it. (1/8) @39CSustain #39CSustain
The 2019 "State of the Air" report made by the American Lung Association ranks LA the most polluted city by "Ozone", the 5th most by "Year-Round Particle Pollution", and 7th by "Short-Term Particle Pollution". http://www.stateoftheair.org/city-rankings/most-polluted-cities.html (2/8)
What does this actually mean towards the topic of climate change? The air pollution coming from cars and factories will progress the rise in earth's temperatures. Also, the mix of warmer weather and these pollutants will worsen the air quality. https://www.nrdc.org/stories/air-pollution-everything-you-need-know (3/8)
This isn't a problem that has been recently discovered. The nation has been dealing with the problem of air pollution for a long time now. That is why the Clean Air Act of 1970 was initiated and has made substantial progress to this day, but LA is still amongst the worst. (4/8)
This unhealthy air quality that millions of people breathe in, just in the city of Los Angeles, has made many change their daily routines. Many people have made it a habit to walk around the streets with face masks just so they won't have to breathe in this polluted air. (5/8)
But where is this pollution really sourced from? #Latraffic is a major cause of this poor air quality. Millions of cars roam the streets of LA, and the emissions that come out of them contribute to the pollution, even though there has been a move electric vehicles. (6/8)
This change in air quality is just a short term solution to the big problem Los Angeles has. A long term solution could be seen in the form of sustainable energy and more electric vehicles. That is only if our President does not interfere with it. (8/8) https://twitter.com/algore/status/1245000513151696896?s=20
