thrawn comic reread thread
starting ourselves off with a nine panel grid, respectable. i& #39;m a fan of the subtle color gradation
this one is even better. i can& #39;t remember if the whole comic is mostly nine panel grids but i hope it is
i like the breakout panel here. it wouldnt have worked if it werent the middle panel. + lighting good too
this is the first break from the nine panel grid and immediately they& #39;re like "we& #39;re gonna need some ugly insets STAT"
the propensity for this comic already to drop the speech bubbles to the bottom of the panel is a bit surprising for a professionally published run
it& #39;s effective in places here though, where you can practically hear eli mumbling
eli& #39;s body language good here. i don& #39;t know why they kept the speech bubble in the captain& #39;s shadow like that though.... maybe the panel was drawn without lettering input???? btw what is this font i like it and i want it if i dont have to pay 400$ for it
thrawn& #39;s caption is further left than the fuckin speech bubble? AMATEUR HOUR
this isn& #39;t a huge issue but if you& #39;re not gonna stagger your gutters then you shouldnt make your readers read vertically
eli will hear a sentence and get mad about it
eli will have something told to him and he will be like is anyone gonna take offense to this and not wait for an answer
i understand what they& #39;re doing here but i really think they shouldnt have made it an inset and just gave grandpa murder his own panel
annie& #39;s face is in shadow here and he looks really good and then the next page they show him in full and he looks BAD todd!!! why didnt they render his face!!!!
eli& #39;s face lookin dumb as fuck here
trying to make this scene not be talking heads as much as possible. i& #39;d say it& #39;s pretty effective! i& #39;m boring and like talking heads though so i guess i wouldn& #39;t have minded if it HAD been talking heads though. this must be the place
idk that much about lore but do those glass vases have any purpose other than to add color balance and remind us that this is a SPACE briefing room
i& #39;m pretty sure this had completed art before it went to the letterers because there are a lot of panels with the characters speaking with their mouths closed, which makes me think that the artist couldn& #39;t anticipate what mouthsound the characters would need to make
eli& #39;s 4th h*rry p*tter movie hair
watching eli get microaggressed for being space mexican is sooooo

eli& #39;s body language is so funny. he just telegraphs everything like a 16 year old boy. vantases is the same
i dont like it when panels overlap.... -_- there& #39;s nothin wrong with it i GUESS but it looks sloppyyyyyyy
comic: i got u some blue. you like blue?
me: [in tears] yes i do
me: [in tears] yes i do
chronic manspreader thrawn
[pretentious] listen if you& #39;re going to use ship terminology dont name ur character "aft". that& #39;s just going to confusing to people like me, who like boats,
issue 1: we& #39;re gonna have a few insets here and there, do some fun breakouts and borderless panels to make it interesting, but keep using 9 panel grids or 6 panel grids for rhythmic scenes
issue 2: we want this comic looking like a conspiracy theorist& #39;s bulletin board
issue 2: we want this comic looking like a conspiracy theorist& #39;s bulletin board
oh thank god we& #39;re back to a nine panel grid. i feel like someone took a broom to the comic and tidied it up a bit
