I made some similar right angles triangles from red and orange card for today’s #mathartchallenge from @anniek_p.
Here is a thread following some of my explorations.

I really enjoyed playing with these mathematical shapes.
I created them following the explaination from @anniek_p here: https://twitter.com/anniek_p/status/1251872492324638721">https://twitter.com/anniek_p/...

The card was a different colour on each side which added some interesting patterns. Each size triangle was reversed. I didn’t expect this!
The second pattern is essentially a pursuit curve.

Some different spirals, including some layering.
The first spiral flips the triangle at each iteration.

Some of these patterns felt more mathematical than others. Is that weird?
I am going to leave these shapes out for a few days I think. I might even add more to this thread!

Just adding this here as it’s not in the thread but it’s something that I wanted to preserve as part of my thinking. https://twitter.com/becky_k_warren/status/1252015962477350912?s=21">https://twitter.com/becky_k_w... https://twitter.com/becky_k_warren/status/1252015962477350912">https://twitter.com/becky_k_w...
I’ve decided the patterns I was considering as ‘more mathematical’ are actually about how easy it would be to write an algorithm to generate the pattern.
I feel like this then favours patterns where edges and corners align. Also where the triangles are oriented the same and where fewer triangles are used in each reputation in the pattern.
