Since we are talking about witchcraft let me tell y’all a young story about my father’s cousin’s
Do it was in 1995 when one of my father’s many cousins will name him Uncle Temba.
So uncle Temba was one of the calm cousins my dad had, my older siblings preferred him and a few other cousins of my dad.
Uncle Temba stayed in Harare in Msasa Park with a good job as a clerk at the parliament. He was quite mordern and successful.
Him and my father were close in age but Temba was quite older. They grow up in their hometown Nyatate (I refuse to call it mine) it looks cute right? Wait for it.
Well Temba had an older brother, I will call Hector - (in real life his name actually translated to murderer). By now you have an idea what’s going to happen. But Hector the hectic uncle had a general dealership at the growth point in Nyayate
Temba got married to an aunt I’ll call Cecilia and they had four children. His wife worked as a teacher but together they built a successful life with a transport business that was doing quite well.
Meanwhile Hector was also doing so well in business back at his general dealership. It seems like a good story so far right?
Later in 1995 Hector’s shop was almost empty because mans spent the money marrying every second girl he liked. Polygamy is recognized by Zim customary law so he could. But these women would file for child support the moment they discovered they weren’t the main anymore.
With so many financial obligations he had to find a quick way to make money. Crime was not an option in case he got caught and would be jailed without anyone to take care of his ka clan of wives and babies
So here is where it starts. Hector went to go for a ritual, called Kuromba in ChiShona. So this picture should give you an idea.
Kuromba - is basically when one goes to a witch doctor, (not a traditional healer there is a difference) and they get spiritual intervention to give them spiritual powers over a certain area of their life, it could be wealth or even to win all your physical fights (mangoromera)
Now the terrible thing about witch doctors they tell you the benefits of Kuromba & not the side effects. Especially the terms of usage.
We have one other cousin of our father whose powers dictate to him that he shouldn’t see the sun or he loses a grandchild whenever he steps out in broad daylight. So he has lived a nocturnal life since I’ve known of his existence. My father never let him near me.
Back to Hector. So Hector’s witch doctor requested for a sacrifice for the spiritual transaction to go through. This process is called Kuchekeresa. This is where the story gets scary guys.
Do the process of Kuchekeresa is when one sacrifices a human life. The beginning of witchcraft. It ranges from making someone walk kilometers upon kilometers with no rest. The more they walk the more you make money, or them not marrying or then staying in uni degree after degree
Or just killing them. This process is where one has to physically go a plant a death trap in the victims house.
So how did this take place with Temba in context? Well his first target was his late cousins daughter he had volunteered to take care off. She seemed like the easy option to get rid off, compared to his kids and siblings. We will call this girl Milipa.
Milipa in 1995 apparently at the village compound woke up to a snake slithering between her legs. The snake’s form was indescribable and unrecognizable. If all things went well she wasn’t even supposed to see the snake.
The snake normally should just slither over the persons body and then they fall sick or just get bad luck so that after four days or a week they die a seemingly natural death or an accident
Well Milipa was a prayer warrior so the devil couldn’t win
She survived her father trying to stomp her in a traditional basin as a toddler for another Kuchekeresa mission that failed.
So now that the case of bewitching Milipa has failed, there would be consequences if Hector didn’t make a quick recovery plan.
So the next option was to take someone even closer, but who now? Temba upon hearing bizarre news of Milipa and the unknown snake went to see her in the village.
Wrong move
Temba gets there and Hector is already annoyed by the failed plan let alone the brother he is jealous of tries to be the hero of the day
So Hector realizes he could end it all by going to his witch doctor and solve this case.
So he gets his muti (poison) from his witchdoctor
Here is how we lost our dear uncle, the sad story begins. (Also why I will never eat from a plate based over to me me at a function, I only eat from buffets)
Hector plans a small family dinner to celebrate Milipa’s ‘escape,’ and amshowing Temba appreciation. So they slaughtered a sheep. In my culture if you slaughter a sheep and it cries. There is a major tragedy approaching the family.
To make matters worse the snake re appears, that was already a sign that hector had not followed protocol. Temba kills the snake. But they proceeded with the dinner. Hectik hectik.
They slept peacefully apparently and Uncke Temba has to return since he had to sit in parliament the next afternoon.
He apparently went to work upon returning to Harare and had mentioned to Cecilia that he had a ‘minor migraine’
That afternoon he was then told by his superiors at work to go home and rest since he was was jittery and some colleagues said he was hallucinating though he denied it.
The next morning Cecilia ringed my fathers to go and drive them to the hospital, he was puking blood.
My father narrated the story about the driver two days before he died. This is why I take this matter of witchcraft now his family seriously. He specifically instructed me not to ever let them know how I’m doing in life nor allow them in my space.
They got to the hospital and the doctors wanted to draw his blood but they couldn’t find a vein, can you believe it? So they couldn’t put him on drip or run tests. They were helpless and within an hour he passed on.
Well this is not how it ends.
Before the burial Cecilia had picked the suit he wore on their wedding m, shoes and shirt and ties for him to be buried in.
He was buried in Nyatate because in the drive to the hospital he said if he had to die they would have to burry him next to his mom’s grave.
So in my tradition, when a person is buried the last mourners at the grave should sweep moving backwards so that there are no footprints on the grave or it’s immediate surroundings
This is done to verify if a person died naturally or zim-science was at play.
In the next morning the mourners should return to inspect if there are foot prints at the grave and if there are then that means things happened.
So that was done, they swept and went back to the compound and the next morning they went to the grave, not only did they find foot prints but guess what....
When they arrived, to Cecilia’s shock, they found the clothes they had buried him in ironed, folded and nicely placed on top of the grave.
My aunt Cecilia ran with her kids back home and she mad her brother drove back to Harare. That was in 1995 and we have never heard from her nor do we know where she is.
The end. In short my father’s cousins are top tier witches. When I get time I will tell you about uncke Simba who died after the floor in the elevator ‘collapsed.’
