A quarantine reading of Augustine’s Confessions - a thread
Just finished Book I

Me and this Augustine kid have a lot in common. Apparently we’re both prideful assholes who hate being forced to study but also love flexing their knowledge on the homies?

This hits too close to home.

Also this man knows SO MANY Psalms! And Plotinus!

Don’t miss the introduction essay in the Oxford World Classic’s edition!

I usually skip them (because I’m obviously smart enough to fully comprehend this book without it https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🧐" title="Face with monocle" aria-label="Emoji: Face with monocle">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🤪" title="Zany face" aria-label="Emoji: Zany face">) but I was encouraged by a kind upperclassmen to read it.

Really insightful stuff.
- Update -

I haven’t read Book II yet because I’m LAZY and don’t want to be spiritually rekt by Augustine’s old as f*ick writing.
