MANAGING YOUR PERSONAL REPUTATION
I had to come out to write this thread which is going to be a series as a result of the trending issue which concerns ensuring one's reputation is intact and not allowed to be smeared by campaign of calumny. I will share some personal experiences
I will share some things which have helped me thus far in my career. These nuggets will help individuals and corporations change their approach to managing their reputation. I will also be writing from the perspective of a marketing professional.

You must manage your reputation!
Years back, in my university days, a junior colleague came into my room and saw me cracking jokes with my roommates.

She was shocked to see me in such a mood as her experience and understanding of me was a stern looking fellow who hardly laughs.
This was totally contrary to what I know myself to be. I believe I'm a friendly person and I could be very humorous.

How come someone is telling me the opposite?

I tried to verify these assertions from other junior people close to me & I realized that the thoughts were the same
After that experience, I had to take conscious efforts towards smiling whenever I meet people so that I won't be mistaken for the wrong kind of personality.

I have always shared with people that you must always get feedbacks from your circle of friends.
You must make sure that the feedbacks you get from your friends align with your identity, beliefs and personal principles.

Your friends must be able to tell you what those who are outside your circle think about you and those feedbacks must not be ignored.
Even our Lord Jesus Christ asked His disciples for feedback. "Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?" Jesus asked His disciples. After they responded, He asked them again, "but whom say ye that I am?" If Jesus was concerned about what people say about Him, how much more we?
We must always be concerned about what people say about us and we must attempt to correct the narrative if it is not in tandem with what we are. In marketing, there is what is called corporate image and corporate identity.

We will continue from here tomorrow defining the above.
