Thread of Bebe Rexha’s mistreatment in the music industry:
DISCLAIMER: before i start this thread i just wanna say i’m trying to do it all in chronological order but i might miss stuff or add it in later

Near the beginning of her career, Bebe Rexha joined a band with Pete Wentz in 2010, however after two years Bebe discloses that she was kicked out of the band because Pete Wentz did not want her in the band anymore (1)
(2) After being kicked out of the band, Bebe speaks out in the MTV the ride interview about how she was forced to release a statement claiming she wanted to go solo when in reality Pete did not want her in the band: when she tried calling and her managers they all ignored her
(3) After being kicked out of Black Cards, Bebe recalls falling into a horrible depression after having to move back home with her parents, her mother notes how Bebe blamed herself for her failure
Moving away from Black cards, Bebe speaks out about almost being sexually assaulted by producer Detail: she recalls a time where she had to run out of the studio once when “he tried to do the same thing” to her as he did to the female musicians coming out about their stories
Tinashe was also one of these musicians who spoke out about her experience while supporting Bebe commenting “glad he’s being exposed for the f*cking creep he is”
Continuing with sexual assault: Bebe also recalls a time in 2013 where she was writing songs with Dr Luke: her experience while attempting to write a song for him was horrible and left Bebe Rexha feeling uncomfortable (1)
(2) During the time Bebe was writing with Dr Luke she remembers how she was left alone in a room to write while all the producers downstairs were using drugs: she states that she was frightened and had a panic attack while in the studio
(3) Moreover, Bebe speaks out about how Kesha’s mother had advised her to not work with Dr Luke during a dinner party and Bebe says “trusting her was the best thing I ever did”
While continuing on the topic of sexual assault, Bebe talks about a time when she went to the studio and a big producer tried to massage her feet and when she backed away he refused to work with her again
Moving onto her songwriting: In the early days of her career, Bebe states that she had not made any money from her songwriting due to not having any lawyers: one of the songs she mentioned was huge hit kpop song SHINee by Lucifer in which Rexha received no revenue from the songs
Bebe Rexha also recalls about her writing the hit song “Hey Mama” and producers failing to credit her on the song after being told there were too many names on the song already which would be too confusing for radio
Bebe speaks about her writing the monster (which at the time was called Monster under my bed) and after sending the song to several record labels no one wanted it: after hearing that Eminem was interesting in the song, she had sent the song to his label (1)
(2) However, Bebe shares how she had not heard back from his label and a year later she heard the song on the radio featuring Rihanna and her vocals in the background
Disclaimer: she had known that Eminem was releasing a song called the monster due to the tracklist he posted but she was surprised to hear her vocals in the background
Moving away from songwriting: Bebe speaks out about her ongoing battle with depression and anxiety which stemmed from her first record label 'not letting her go but refusing to put out her music.' (1)
(2) She admitted that she felt 'hopelessly stuck' because the record label were 'holding her hostage’ which in turn had triggered her depression
(3) Bebe said in an interview with Marie-Claire that she had written a letter to the CEO of her old music label: "I don’t want to be alive, you guys are making my life miserable; I’m sad every day“
Moving onto a lack of support: Bebe shares a screenshot of messages between herself and her father in which he slams her appearance and compares her art to pornogrpahy (this was when her music video for last hurrah was going to come out which featured her making out with a woman’
Disclaimer: this is no way an attack on Bebe’s father because they did work it out in the end
Moving onto body issues: In her interview with Cosmopolitan, Bebe states that she was told to lose weight by getting into “boot-camp shape”: Bebe also claims that this had made her self conscious about her body which drove her to days of not eating
After the declination of fashion designers not wanting to make her a dress for the Grammys’s (in which she had two nominations) she tweeted out a video criticising fashion designers for not wanting to dress people over size 2 https://twitter.com/BebeRexha/status/1087414203386744832
I think i’ve covered everything, if i’ve missed anything reply/dm and ill add it to the thread, but I hope this thread raises awareness for the mistreatment Bebe has gone through and gives people a new found respect for her even if you don’t like her music
I can’t believe i forgot to add this: but Bebe Rexha also recalls a time she was almost sexually assaulted by Trey Songz: though he was with a female companion that night, Bebe recalls him pushing her up against the wall forcefully kissing her and wanting to have sex with her
(2) What saddens me about the video is that Bebe is obviously uncomfortable about the subject but also about telling the story but the people around her are making jokes about it and brushing it off even tho she was almost coerced into having sex with Trey Songz
Another thing i forgot to add: During the 2016 VMAs G-Eazy brought Britney Spears to sing his and Bebe’s hit song “Me myself and I” though Bebe was happy that Britney was singing her song it came as a shock to her that she wasn’t on stage singing instead
Moreover, Bebe’s ex producer Devine Evans (who’s real name is Anthony Evans) had been stealing money from Bebe by using her credit for almost a year, sources say he spent up for $37k and was sentenced to two years in prison and was ordered to pay $34,810
After being told by a male executive producer was she was getting “too old” and that her “brand was confusing” Bebe hit back by posting a picture of herself in a bikini on her instagram stating that she is fed up she of being put in a box
And on her 30th birthday (30th August 2019) Bebe released a song titled “Not 20 anymore” as a way to commemorate her getting older and to celebrate her age rather than see it as a setback
