Soon, we're going to start having conversations with our friends and family that are reminiscent of conversations we have (or at least should be having) with future (and current, in the case of open relationships) sex partners:

1/3
Have we been in close contact with anyone recently who was sick?
What precautions/risks have we taken?
When was the last time we got tested?
Do we both understand and consent to the possible risks that we bring to each other and our family/ friends/ communities?

2/3
It's going to be hard and awkward (especially if you're not already practiced at having these kinds of conversations) but it's going to save lives. Being honest about your risks and exposures will be incredibly important to the welfare of those you love the most.
