I really wish we could all just enjoy the Jordan doc without making it about LeBron, especially because they are completely different types of players, but that’s undoubtedly impossible.
The worst part of the constant Jordan-LeBron debates is the fact they aren’t even the same type of player. And while I do believe Jordan is the GOAT, far too many people focus on the wrong things to argue that point.
Arguing Jordan over LeBron because of rings isn’t fair. Jordan didn’t win any title alone. Jordan wasn’t winning rings before Pippen and others started to step up. And yes, LeBron needed help to win too. But almost every NBA champ had multiple stars or HOFers.
Oddly, LeBron would be better off legacy wise if he didn’t reach as many Finals. In reality, leading the 2007 Cavs to the Finals is the absolute ceiling that team could’ve achieved. And Jordan never faced a team as stacked as the Warriors once KD got there in a Finals.
People hold LeBron being on great teams for his titles against him, but lose sight of the fact Jordan played on much more stacked teams than his opponents when he won his.
Jordan is the GOAT for many reasons, but the debate with LeBron and what’s focused on has caused LeBron to be under appreciated and people to either forget history or try to rewrite it to support their narrative.
