We recently had a debate in the Socanalysis Whatsapp group about legendary PL CM's. Someone said "But Paul Scholes can't tackle"
That's a myth that has gained legs. Take 09/10 for example. Scholes averaged 2.9 successful tackles pg. More than any CM at United, Chelsea or Arsenal.
Scholes had a habit of being rash/reckless in his tackles but its wrong to suggest he couldn't tackle. Plenty of data suggests he was actually a very competent tackler. Its certainly not something that can be used against him.
Lets have a look at 09/10.
Scholes 2.9 tackles, 1.4 interceptions but 1.2 fouls pg
Lampard 2.1 tackles, 1 interceptions but 0.7 fouls pg
Gerrard 1.5 tackles, 1.3 interceptions but 0.8 fouls pg

As you can see Scholes fairly more tackles, more interceptions and slight more fouls.
