THREAD—Prem @jkenney—did you give away our good Edmonton Pri-MED masks, leaving Albertans faulty stock from non-traditional Chinese supplier Vanch?

It appears from my research you did—to create good PR for you (w/ FB ads), but endangering Albertans

Here's a glossy promotional video and screenshots of Premier Kenney, with boxes of the known, respected, *good quality* Edmonton-made Pri-MED masks behind him (& magnified) & a box in the video, along with a screenshot from an auction website

Here's another promo vid of Mr Kenney walking around w/ the good Pri-MED masks he donated—leaving Albertans stuck w/ what surgeon Mike Chatenay said were "new masks of substandard quality—which has him worried about other supplies Alta is procuring"

& here's another promo of our Premier saying goodbye to our good masks @ freight airport

"we got a lot stockpiled"

"We're absolutely confident that we've got more than enough to handle our needs in Alberta"

"we're better prepared than most places"

Given the many new suppliers AHS is going to bring in, what are their processes for qualifying the new suppliers? What onsite inspection is happening @ the factory by our own people, including "first-piece evaluation", then in the warehouse before shipping, then on arrival?

5/12
Every batch of masks destined for use here in Alberta should get a "first-piece evaluation", especially when you have a supplier being opportunistic with new products well outside their core competency (Vanch is an RFID electronics manufacturer): http://www.vanch.net/product/detail/343.html

7/12
Meanwhile, Mr Kenney spent $14,000-$20,000 in Facebook ads *alone* to advertise his donation of our good masks to Albertans & to people in BC, ON & QC.

Twitter's full of governors/hosp execs who got burned by shady brokers or distributors of substandard medical supplies. This Mr Kenney is why we have Health Canada & the feds—& don't disparage them & do everything on our own

I'm told that how Material Requirements Planning (MRP) software works is, as soon as you drop the forecast (ie. of COVID infections), you temporarily appear to have a surplus. But if you aren’t factoring in all your demand—eg care for disabled, pharmacies—there’s a problem

10/12
The most efficient way to handle surplus—I'm told—is to postpone orders, & the most efficient way to make stock avail for others is to either cancel your order so next buyer in queue gets some, or drop-ship your order directly to ON/QC/BC rather than through your warehouse

PPPS—Another reason—beyond the attacks on the expertise or judgment of our Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr Tam—that Premier Kenney's rhetoric lately is so dangerous & politicized—as exemplified by his attacks on Health Canada in @VassyKapelos interview https://twitter.com/PnPCBC/status/1249829272669339649?s=20
PPPPS—“Some Alberta physicians are paying premium prices for medical gear on the open market despite the province sending 700,000+ masks & other safety equipment to other provinces, leaving some doctors on the front lines feeling abandoned”— @CarrieTait

“Deena Hinshaw—Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health—said the province is accepting PPE requests for Drs outside AHS’s network. The requests are being evaluated against “urgency of need”

“She deflected a question about why Alberta is sharing supplies to the Health Minister”
“Health Min @Shandro previously said the province is confident in its calculation

“I assure all Albertans that we have ample supply...We’re in a position both to keep Albertans safe & to help ensure CDN healthcare systems from coast to coast are equipped”

And here’s some more very worrying information from @DrAmirPakdel...

Is Premier Kenney putting Alberta health care workers & patients at risk for the sake of some glossy promo videos & crowing/self promoting through paid Facebook advertising? 🤔🧐

This is some serious Orwellian DoubleSpeak/marketing language

"They've been approved for use by AHS after rigorous quality control measures.

"This order is part of our effort to diversify PPE suppliers, part of AB's broader #COVID19 procurement success" https://twitter.com/jkenney/status/1251654816243183617?s=20
" @politicalham interviews Dr @mchatenay about the ill-fitting & ineffective Chinese masks Alberta health care professionals may have to use after Premier Jason Kenney gave away personal protection equipment #PPE to East Canada last week" #ableg #covid19AB
