COVID-19 has mostly shut down states' legislative agendas.

But even since the shutodwn, a flurry of major progressive bills I that were passed by lawmakers pre-COVID have been signed into law, mostly in CO & VA.

Let's recap to make sure there's room for those too.
Colorado:
1. abolished the death penalty
2. ended prison gerrymandering
3. banned ICE from arresting people in courthouses or on the way there
Virginia adopted:
1. automatic voter registration
2. same-day registration
3. no-excuse absentee voting
4. extended voting hours
5. LGBT protections for employment/housing
6. a higher hreshold for what "felony" theft
7. parole eligibility for all minors (in Feb.)

Virginia repealed:
8. ultrasound & waiting period mandates for abortions
9. its voter ID law
10. mandatory minimums for minors in adult court
11. punitive practice of suspending driver's licenses over a failure to pay court debt & some convictions ( https://theappeal.org/politicalreport/virginia-drivers-license-suspensions-court-debt/)
Dems gained control of CO & VA in 2018/2019.

Now, some caveats of recent weeks:
1. KY's GOP majority pursued new voting restrictions.
2. Northam delayed labor/min wage bills.
3. NY's Dem govt rolled back crim justice reform & cut billions from Medicaid ( https://theappeal.org/politicalreport/new-york-2020-budget-biaggi-medicaid-bail/)
