out of the 8020 possible Dynasty Warriors pairings, here is a thread of ones that I can possibly see

Liu Bei/Guan Yu, Guan Yu/Zhang Fei, Liu Bei/Zhang Fei: every variation of these 3 is canon and boring, slightly less boring if you ship them as an ot3 and then treat them like they're Destiny's Child, though (Guan Yu is obviously the Beyonce)

Liu Bei/Zhao Yun: who doesn't love "Good Guy" lord/devoted general who would risk his life to save his lord's baby son only for the lord to slam dunk that baby on the ground bc he was so upset at the thought of losing said general no I will never get over that story it's so funny

Liu Bei/Ma Chao: Not something I see very much but clearly they must have a little bit of a good thing going on. Would like to see Ma Chao looking after Hex Mark and the both of them bitching about Cao Cao

Liu Bei/Zhuge Liang: bruh Liu Bei would not leave him ALONE we know there's an unequal power balance relationship here and it's not on Liu Bei's side for once

Liu Bei/Xu Shu: I feel like this is one of those relationships that's somehow both really deep and really shallow at the same time bc Xu Shu is such a closed-off person. He'd admire Liu Bei and Liu Bei would find him interesting, but it's so hard to tell what Xu Shu is thinking

Liu Bei/Wei Yan: kind of one-sided on Wei Yan's end bc he just feels everything so strongly but Liu Bei still adores him nonetheless (which makes the whole Zhuge Liang thing even worse)

Liu Bei/Sun Jian: I remember this being a thing back in the DW3/DW4 eras but I'm not sure if it has any basis other than "rulerslash". They seem like they would get along?

Liu Bei/Sun Ce: Sun Ce just seems like the kind of guy Liu Bei likes that's all. I don't think it would be mutual

Liu Bei/Sun Quan: OH BOY this would not work at ALL but also I kind of want to watch the car crash of a very young Sun Quan crushing a little on Liu Bei before the battle of Chibi and growing more and more disillusioned as he grows older that actually this Good Man ain't shit

Liu Bei/Sun Shangxiang: I reject the way koei has made her his cute spunky adoring wife smh she's a butch lesbian in a political marriage

Liu Bei/Lu Su: honestly idk why I just think it would be fun

Liu Bei/Cao Cao: now THIS is my Liu Bei otp. You played the game you read the novel you know what's up if not just watch this cutscene then know that they go on to war against each other until their deaths

Guan Yu/Zhang Liao: idk how many of you remember the San comics but that is forever how I will see this pairing

Guan Yu/Cao Cao: too bad Cao Cao's seduction techniques of Red Hare and Beard Bag didn't work out for him. Still one-sided canon as fuck

Guan Yu/Xiahou Dun: canon in that Cao Cao/Xiahou Dun is accepted by pretty much every fan regardless of if they're into slash or not and that Xiahou Dun acts VERY jealously about Guan Yu having Cao Cao's attention

Zhao Yun/Ma Chao: used to be THE Shu prettyboy ship bc to be fair, best of a bad lot, and who doesn't like some spear 4 spear justice boy action

Zhao Yun/Wen Yang: canon one-sided on Wen Yang's end as far as Orochi is concerned. Good for him

I always thought Zhao Yun was super shippable but I think it's just that he's the poster boy? He doesn't really have many meaningful relationships at all outside of Liu Bei and Liu Shan :s

Ma Chao/Huang Zhong: LOOK I know Huang Zhong is like a million years old but I think their temperaments would go really well together and while I don't ship them as more than just bros I'm sure there's some grandpa fucker out there who'd love to see them bang

Ma Chao/Xu Shu: Xu Shu shares some stylistic similarities with Ma Dai and ppl love shipping Ma Chao and Ma Dai together so instead of kissing cousins may I suggest this instead. Plus I think their personalities are so opposite that it could be interesting, + Xu Shu's defection...

speaking of Ma Chao/Ma Dai: I don't like it but I get it. This is a thread for feasible ships not just ones I like.

Ma Chao/Jiang Wei: they're both very uhhh... you know... yelling about JUSTICE and HONOUR and PRIME MINISTER and stuff. look I don't ship it I just see why people do

Ma Chao/Pang De: one for the people who like tragic ships I guess

Zhuge Liang/Yueying: canon, would be more interesting if Yueying had any canon relationships aside from her husband bc it's a little zzzz hearing her talk about how great her husband is. We get it he's smart but girl so are you

Zhuge Liang/Xu Shu: def a case of "I'm not good enough for you" leading to a huge messy breakup that really could have been avoided

Zhuge Liang/Pang Tong: ICONIC ACTUALLY. Love that Pang Tong is the only one who knows Zhuge Liang is full of shit lol I LOVE the idea of perfectly composed and serene Zhuge Liang getting all awkward because Pang Tong can think circles around him and get to his darkest inner heart

Zhuge Liang/Fa Zheng: we do love some strateslash, and it's even better with hatred

Zhuge Liang/Jiang Wei: look Jiang Wei is an unhealthy amount of devoted to Zhuge Liang and his ideals ok it's basically Nobunaga and Ranmaru but Nobunaga is more subtle about his sinister ambitions and Ranmaru is completely unhinged

Zhuge Liang/Wei Yan: HATE SHIP HATE SHIP HATE SHIP a dude who values intelligence and intellectualism above all else vs a dude who has a speech impediment and is very simple and straightforward, it was never going to go well and it DOESN'T but hm it could be sexey.

Zhuge Liang/Ma Dai: I feel like Zhuge Liang is the only person who sees the darkness underneath his cheerfulness. I wish the games would build on their relationship more bc for Zhuge Liang to entrust him with backstabbing Wei Yan and for Ma Dai to do it so easily... make think...

Zhuge Liang/Sun Quan: absolutely ridiculous I KNOW but like with Liu Bei/Sun Quan... consider Chibi

Zhuge Liang/Zhou Yu: you can NOT tell me there wasn't mutual sexual frustration going on behind all that taunting.

Zhuge Liang/Lu Su: Lu Su is like the one character apart from Pang Tong (and maybe Yueying and Ma Dai) who seems to LIKE Zhuge Liang rather than just fear him, I think his mature and realistic character balances out Zhuge Liang's more fantastical one very well
