When I'm not working or taking care of my kids (which is a LOT of the time) I'm pretty bored during quarantine. But I dont have a lot of free time so I need something that I can do in 3 to 10 minute intervals.

The project? Goldberg's absurd 175-0 streak.
Match 1)

9/22/97

Hugh Morris gets the actual intro. Goldberg is just there like a jobber.

Not a jobber match though, Gokdberg takes it to him, kicks out of the moonsault, 2 slams, jackhammer. 1-0.

Crowd mildly into it, but onto the next match.
Match 2. 9/29/1997

Vs the Barbarian.
No intro for either man
Formula is not here yet. Goldberg does a dropkick(!) & a second rope clothesline(!!)
Then takes a beating from the Barbarian until a kick to the stomach and a jackhammer out of nowhere.

Time of fall: 3:05

2-0
Match 3- 10/13/97 vs Scottie Riggs

Both get intros (the first airing of the Goldberg theme. No pyro)

He has to sell Riggs' terrible offense which is hilarious.
First spear, mid match transition move.
Jackhammer finishes after dropping Riggs on guardrail in 3:08

4-0
4-0 because he beat Roadblock on WCW Saturday night (The muddahship!)

1997 Saturday Night is not on the Network and I dont care enough to chase that somewhere else.
Match 4. 10/20/97

Vs Wrath.

Both get intros. He's Still Bill Goldberg.
Schiavone and co. talk about his devastating finishing move the Jackhammer.
Wrath never takes his helmet off.
Spear/Jackhammer (called jackknife by Shiavone because WCW) 22 seconds. 5-0
Post match Goldberg tells shitty Mortis "YOU'RE NEXT"

Here we go
Oh wait theres more post match.

Goldberg stands in the aisle yelling "WHO'S NEXT! WHO'S NEXT!"

Who walks out? Steve "Mongo" McMichael.

I remember they had a PPV match that was super shitty. Will find out soon enough if that was at Halloween Havoc 1997.
It was not. Mongo vs a mystery opponent, but the opponent was Alex Wright.

Goldberg interfered though.

The next night, no match, but Goldberg beat up Wright, Disco Inferno, & Mongo to a nice pop. Dude is getting over.

He didnt have another match on Nitro until 12/29/97
Not sure if he was hurt.

Starrcade 12/28/97. Pretty famous card.

THIS is the match vs Mongo. Not as awful as I remembered but did have an atrocious table spot at 7:45 of this video. https://dai.ly/x2b5cqs

6-0 now. Might be higher but no mention of wins. Only undefeated
12/29/17. Monday Nitro vs the legend.

Glacier

Glacier attacks at the bell, gets powerslammed, speared, and jackhammered at 1:01.

Crowd getting hot for this guy. I've documented 7. No mention of the streak again, just undefeated.

According to research he ended 2017 9-0.
1/5/98. Goldberg wins in 2:51 vs Stevie Ray. Terrible match (it was against Stevie Ray, so obviously)

Announcers ignored the bout and instead talked about

The nWo
Patrick's fast count
Bret Hart
Thunder (oh crap)

10-0
Thunder 1/8/98

Vs Mongo again.

Introduced as Bill Goldberg but Tony mentions he only wants to be called Goldberg.

Debut of the press slam/powerslam combo but it is not a seamless move yet.

Mongo gets token offense until the usual finishes at 2:27
1/12/98. Nitro vs Jerry Flynn.

Jesus, look at this dipshit.
The pop is sizeable. The crowd knows this guy is about to get murdered.

Flynn attacks first, gets some kicks in, some martial arts leg bars.

Goldberg reverses an arm bar into a slam, spear, Jack knife. See ya at 1:21

12-0
1/15/98 Thunder

Scheduled match vs Chavo Guerrero.

No match because the Disco Inferno jumps Chavo and hits him with the Chartbuster (stunner)

Goldberg comes out and smokes Disco instead.

Pop was muted, because Thunder never had the best audio setup.
Not booked on the 1/19 Nitro

Thunder 1/22 vs Kendall Windham.

The trademark head bobs have made it to the entrance. But he still has to sell offense from these shitbags.

Reverses an Irish whip into the spear, jackhammer finishes at 1:20

Hyping undefeated, but no # 13-0
Not booked on the PPV so next bout is Nitro on 1/26

WCW knows they have something here.

Basic fireworks have been added to the entrance.

Heenan is talking him up.

Zybysko likes that he's old school "When men were men & women didn't vote"

Amazing
Oh yeah, the match.

Brad Armstrong gets the usual token kicks in until he taunts when he dodges a Goldberg corner charge.

Spear
Jackhammer
14-0 in 1:47
1/29 Thunder. Last one for tonight

Vs Yuji Nagata.

I have to give WCW credit, they had such a huge roster they never ran out of clowns to get waxed.

Yuji punches and kicks until he runs into the spear. It's then academic at 1:33

15-0, and Meng is up next in 2 days.
No shit? There's a Goldberg vs Haku match?

I guess I am searching for WCW Saturday night now.
Vs Meng. 1/31 WCW Saturday night.

First time we see just Goldberg as his graphic.

This match was exactly what I wanted. Two dudes throwing haymakers back and forth.

Pop was loud (taped and pumped up, but still loud.)

Goldberg wins at 7:15(!)
Killed the mystique a bit, IMO.

Speaking of killing, watch Goldberg drop Meng on his head at 8:20, and then likely injure Jimmy Hart the same way at 8:31
I guess WCW agreed with me cause it was back to basics on the 2/2 Nitro vs this geek

30 seconds of pathetic Starr offense until:

Press slam/powerslam
Taunt
Spear
Taunt
Jackhammer @ 1:12

Crowd is molten for this dude. Destroying tomato cans for 4 months will do that.

17-0
2/5 Thunder.

Goldberg continues to plow through the top contenders as he is matched up with Jim Powers.

Goldberg no sold his shitty punches and finished him off in 58 seconds. 18-0

Next up vs Disco Inferno on WCW Saturday night. Do I dare???
I will admit. I'm a Disco Inferno fan. He was such a tool but he played his role perfectly.

I was always a WWF guy. WCW always annoyed me with their terrible production values, the small ring, hideous announcers, constant botches (how psychosis kept his job ill never know)
Their entrance music was awful too.

Blatant rip offs of popular songs (Jerico, DDP, etc)
Public domain greatest hits

They honestly had two great themes.

The nWo Wolfpac
Disco Fever
So of course I tracked this match down.

Disco Inferno waltzed to the ring
Did his shtick
Did his dance
Got his ass handed to him in 1:42

19-0. Next match 2/9/98 vs Lord Steven Regal.

Oh, THAT match? I need to pay full attention to this.
So the Regal match. Definitely an odd one. Nothing like any of his previous matches.

Regal & Goldberg just wrestled for 4 1/2 minutes. The same sequence too. Regal arm stretch, reversed by Goldberg into a leg lock, Regal escapes and then thumbs him in the eye.

Repeat
Repeat
Repeat
Repeat

Throw in some European uppercuts.

Until finally the spear and jackhammer finish at 5 even.

Regal probably didn't have to get fired over this but it was definitely off.

20-0
2/12 vs Glacier. Remember Glacier? He was supposed to be such a huge deal.

Back to the usual formula. Although this time Goldberg did a backflip(!) to dodge a spin kick.

Spear
Hammer
Ballgame

1:14
2/16 Nitro. At Steinbrenner arena.

The Boss is in the crowd!

Schovanie asks Larry if he wants to say any words about Louie Spicolli, who had passed away the day before.

"I have a LOT to say, but out of respect to the family I'm gonna keep my mouth shut."

Classy
Anyway, back to the beginning vs Hugh Morris again.

Hugh nails Goldberg with a second rope clothesline which is no sold.

Goldberg then flips out of a suplex and hits the spear

Jackhammer finishes at :58

22-0
2/19 Thunder vs a young Fit Finley!

(I had to look it up, he was 39!)
Interesting to see where this goes after this, but from what I've seen so far, THIS is the match where it takes off.

Holy shit did @ringfox1 take a beating & put him over. Everyone should watch it.

Crowd was ON FIRE for the entire match.

Spear/Jackhammer finish at 2:35. 23-0
SuperBrawl 8- 2/22/. Special "unadvertised PPV match"

Brad Armstrong gets a PPV payday.

Goldberg throws in a pump handle suplex for the PPV crowd. Also has started holding the suplex for the jackhammer.

Armstrong gets destroyed in 2:23

Crowd is now ALL IN on this guy. 24-0
Inexplicably not booked on Nitro the next night, so it's Thunder on 2/26/98 from Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Don't know if there's nothing to do in Iowa or what but the crowd was electric for the entire match vs Rick Fuller.

1:10 to be exact as Goldberg smoked that guy. 25-0
Heenan said he was going to ask "Iron" Mike Tenay on Nitro what Goldberg's actual record is.

So maybe the inflation is about to begin.
Nitro 3/2/98 Vs sick boy

No mention of the streak yet, but he is massively over. I heard some chants (not the "piped" ones that would come)

Sick Boy gets waxed at 1:36. 26-0

As a bonus, here's a classic @WrestleBotch at 2:10 of this clip
Thunder 3/5 vs Vincent (Virgil)

Vincent couldn't even bother gearing up. He "wrestled" this match in jeans and an nWo shirt.

Attacks at the bell, gets punched. Spear. Jackhammer. 32 seconds.

27-0
3/9 Nitro. Vs Barry Darsow.

Smash? In 1998 they were still marching out Smash? They were still ahead in the ratings at this point.

Had to go look at what was happening on Raw on 3/9/98 that couldn't get more viewers than fucking Smash.
It seems the main event that night was Savio Vega (of Los Boriquas) vs Hunter Hearst Helmsley (still the lackey to HBK in DX 1.0)

All right, it makes more sense now.
Shockingly, Darsow held his own. Goldberg didn't finish him off until 2:37 with the usual.

28-0

Demolition forever......
Not booked on Thunder or the PPV. I guess they ran out of 80's WWF jobbers and needed a week off.

So the next match is 3/16. Vs Lodi (another one of Raven's flock).

Oh, it's SPRING BREAK! Will someone end up in the water? Tune into Nitro to find out!!!
45 seconds to dispatch Lodi. The first 15 were Lodi prancing around as well.

Goldberg destroyed the flock post match as well, until Saturn decided against it.

Not surprisingly, Goldberg was super over with a crowd of drunken college geeks. 29-0
From my recollection, Goldberg was "75-0" when he won the U.S. Title and that was in April.

I would say the streak pump up is imminent.
Thunder 3/19. Vs Wayne Bloom.

They are just screwing with me now. Wayne Bloom? Beau fucking Beverly?

He lost in 1:19.

Bigger news, Hernan told us on the way to the ring, that Goldberg was 55-0. So this match has us now at 56-0.
So we found the boost. There are 26 wins i have missed, but every Nitro, Thunder, and PPV is listed here.

There are some Saturday nights I have missed, but 26? Even if he wrestled on every episode of WCW Saturday night (which he didnt) we would he 8 short.
And WCW didn't do house shows either, that's why everyone loved working for them.
Nitro 3/23/98. vs the Renegade, who tells us he knows how to beat Goldberg and this match will be quick.

Renegade hits a hand-spring back elbow(!), then gets speared.

Jackhammer finishes the job at :40

57 (err) 60-0. "He just tied Babe Ruth"
Based on simple math, he won a match Friday night, Saturday night, & Sunday night to get to 59-0 before this match.

We have already established they didn't do houses. Was one of them on WCW Saturday night? Fuck yeah i went and looked it up.

It was not.
Of course this led me down a rabbit hole because the internet is filled with losers like me.

I found 8 WCW Saturday night matches.

Meng (counted)
Disco (counted)
Mike anthony (?) Twice
The Renegade
Chase Tatum
Jerry Flynn
and super jobber Barry Horowitz
So I have 31-0, plus the six above that I didn't watch.

Official count is 37-0

WCW count? 60-0.
Thunder 3/26. Jerry Flynn gets his third shot at the man.

Not going to lie, the crowd is going APE SHIT just when his music starts. Tenay mentions that he picked up 61 last night.

Play by play:
Belly to belly
power slam
reverse armbar into powerbomb
snap mare (?)
Armbar (?)
