I just read @MonicaHesse& #39;s look at journalism on allegations (bc new Reade v Biden), then went back to read what she had to say after @JaneMayerNYer & #39;s deeply researched work on Al Franken.
Study in contrasts! So much nuance now. MUCH less with Franken. https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/tara-reade-joe-biden-and-the-limitations-of-journalism/2020/04/16/da25211c-7dbd-11ea-a3ee-13e1ae0a3571_story.html">https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle...

On Franken:
"You don’t have to decide that Franken was a bad man in 2006 to think he should have resigned in 2017."
Wait, really? Yikes.
On USO skit she presumes it WAS poor taste and that it DID have "mash" kiss in it (but it didn& #39;t! that& #39;s the point!) https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/we-cant-let-go-of-the-al-franken-question-theres-good-reason-for-that/2019/07/24/50fedf2e-ad5f-11e9-bc5c-e73b603e7f38_story.html">https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle...

People who study journalism on allegations (that& #39;s important) are seeing now with Biden how serious it is to do their very best (great, this is important) but if they think that ever did happen with Franken (_except_ for Mayer) they are fooling themselves. And their readers.
Also raunchy humor is not simply nefarious by definition. I mean, we can see it in _current_ SNL skits, it& #39;s not that this was something merely dated because was 2006. His skit itself was _dunking_ on lecherous men. The _woman_ IS the smarter, savvy one! C& #39;mon people. Catch on.
Meanwhile @MonicaHesse seems to think Franken was an "overly friendly elected official" who was "socially kissing". But his social kissing pre-dates being in office! Second, she& #39;s puzzled about _men_ doing this? Well, how about this? Anything wrong here? https://twitter.com/LissandraVilla/status/1137463606524686336?s=20">https://twitter.com/Lissandra...
