Negligible number of submissions to the journal from women in the last month. Never seen anything like it.
Obviously the sample size here is v small and it will be interesting to see how things pan out. For example, will more women find themselves getting into a rhythm with the various kinds of work they’re juggling, and so next month we’ll see an increase in papers from women?
This would suggest closing journals would be no benefit. But anecdotal evidence from this thread suggests at least some women won’t be submitting to journals anytime soon. Pandemics are no great leveller, that’s for sure.
Anyway I’m muting this thread just so I can get on with work (!). Thanks for all the interesting comments. I hope it’s at least reassuring to those who are struggling to know that they aren’t alone. All power!
