photos coming in, had our video call Garden A is down into layer 4. Finds include roof tile, glass, glazed pottery fragments, clay pipe frag
Ultra organised separation of turf, spoil and finds by layer in Garden A.
We have recommended 0.50m x 0.50m test pits and up to c.0.30m deep for damage limitation. Video calls help with discussing further work.
Go team garden C led by YAC Ben. Neat excavation revealing clay pipe frag, iron nail, brick frags...
Layers are important!
Knowing the archaeology of our local area & based on our experience of test pits in local gardens e.g. #cobhamlandscapedetectives we are training our YACs to dig by layer by layer.

And we have another YAC joining in this afternoon, welcome Emily.
Check out our 3pm stats!
Matthew has been hard at work digging his test pit in the garden while his mum has been excavating his bedroom. Her find: his first dig t-shirt!

Ben is done digging for the day so he's going to tell you a little about his finds.
Finds all washed, laid out to dry & described of his own accord. @YAC_CBA Thanks Ben & family.
