they really nailed it with the song choice. i mean, the opening sequence as a whole is one of my favorites because: 1) it has lots of women (duh); and 2) it introduces you to the main character without those narrations we don't care about and it feels very organic.

but i digress. THE SONG CHOICE! it sounds really gay *ahem* but anyways Suddenly I See is iconic and i love KT Tunstall. perfect song choice 10/10 would recommend

!!!!!!!!! i love this whole section. i'm gonna talk about this for a bit. it's my thread i make the rules

we've met Andy, right? and we know quite a bit about her character from before Runway from the first five minutes we had with her.

she doesn't care about fashion, that's clear. she's not here for fashion. we see she did prepare her own material for the interview, but her ambitions are stronger than anything else. (by the way, i do think they should've kept her first interview with HR, where they say they+

have 2 offers: Runway or Auto Universe. she wasn't prepared. she doesn't know who's Miranda, she doesn't know what's Runway. (even if the scene had been included it's so bad that she didn't do some research, ofc kasjkaj) but we've already glimpsed at who Andy is.

aNd NOW. now the movie establishes who Miranda the *boss* is. they do so QUICKLY for the audience and for Andy too! Miranda's clearly always thinking about results, about her work, doesn't want to listen to justifications - doesn't think she has time to listen to that+

and just wants to push forward and strive for the best. she doesn't accept sub-par work. she doesn't accept error. she's a perfectionist. she's also ambitious, just like Andy is. i just LOVE the way the dialogue shows us all this without explicitly saying everything. it's so+

well-done and planned, i just had to talk about it sorry

the cerulean speech is one of my favorite parts of the movie, and not only bc Meryl is an amazing actress ahem

it manages to show why Andy shouldn't be mocking them if she wishes to succeed... also shows the importance of M's job and of fashion to them and the industry.
