I’m now 6 full weeks into COVID symptoms and this damn thing will just not go away.

Still functional, but the difficulty breathing hasn’t let up for the entire time. Like someone is sitting on my chest. Comes in waves, mainly in the afternoon and evenings.
There are many people who are much worse off than I am, so I feel fortunate.

But it’s been a miserable experience for me. Can never really relax, no treatment. @onemedical has been fantastic in helping me manage, but it’s inherently a very helpless process.
Debilitating fatigue and fever in week 1, ER at week 2 when breathing became critical, persistent breathing issues and headaches since.

It feels like I’m toward the end. I’ll be ok, but doctors are seeing it run 10-12 weeks in some cases. No one knows.
Things that have been helpful for me: A pulse oximeter to measure oxygen saturation levels (critical), albuterol inhaler to help through the waves, menthol cough drops, zinc, and laying on my stomach when breathing worsens.

But all temporary measures. You don’t want this virus.
If anyone else is dealing with this and needs some support, DMs are open.

I’ve spent hours on the phone with doctors during all of this, but if you’re not critical and not in the ER, there’s nothing they can do. Here if you’re feeling helpless and need someone.
Reading the replies to this provides a good sense of what it’s been like. A lot of theories on how or what you can take to treat. None of them proven.

Doctors are hesitant to prescribe and no consensus on how to handle. You’re left mainly with home remedies if not critical.
Long-term effects and damage are also unclear. Doctors aren’t taking in-person visits to evaluate and pulmonologists are focused on the critically ill, as they should.

So, you wait. Stack up on vitamins and hope it goes away. Uncertainly is the real monster with this thing.
Thanks for all the love. I’ll be good, I’m the least of my concerns at this point.

A lot of DMs from folks who are experiencing similar symptoms and lengths. Working through them, will make sure to get to all.
