I got watch_dogs for free on the epic games store so here& #39;s a list of all of the things in it that make no sense from the 20 minutes i& #39;ve played
u can hack pipes. like the manual valves on pipes and it makes them explode. Why are these pipes wirelessly connected to a network
So when u have access to the city& #39;s surveillance city u can see profiles of people and it reads information about them. U can go to likely crime scenes identified by the system to stop them. -> continued
It identifies someone with a chance of criming and if they see u you& #39;ve failed, they are always the crimer even before it says they are and the system tells u this despite thinking they are 10% crime.
Another fun thing is u can stop a crime (apparently ur a good guy a vigilante) and this gives u about as much civillian reputation as fucking murdering 4 civillians takes away from you.
Also the game tries to make u think ur a good guy when u earn money by hacking into random peoples bank accounts and while u do it tells u stuff about the victim like "taken in homeless man", "occupation: waiter", "annual income: $6000"
The first non tutorial mission starts with you arriving at your nephews birthday after it has finished, right before this mission what u canonically do is just go to sleep, so this main character jackass didnt set an alarm and slept thru his nephews midday birthday what a dick
if u close the game with the menus it forgets half of your settings, if u alt f4 to kill the program it remembers them
i just finished a massively risky mission to intimidate a prison inmate to protect my epic hacker vigilante identity, including a bit about hiding my name and using an alias, as soon as im done i hear a radio broadcast saying my full name and saying im the vigilante
you can run along the top of barbed wire fences
one of the missions starts with asking you to hack the controls for a bridge so u can cross a river, you can swim across it in 10 seconds, you fail the mission for doing this
the homeless man i just chased down and threatened at gunpoint for the bridge remote afterwards was just like hey man come see me at my shop anytime i build things and sell them
i finished this game last night and the ending is like actually so terribly predictable it practically insults the player by bringing up all these concepts that are easily figured out halfway through the game
every single thing that happens in the game serves only the story, there is no extra flavour and no non story related character traits or discussions and new things are so awkward because of it, the only reason they ever happen is because story needs to happen
this makes it so much funnier whenever they throw in a classic edgy gamer boy dogwhistle because they know thats their target audience. every time its just tacked onto the end of the bits they clearly wanted to actually talk about but marketing said what about the cool violence
the one good thing about the story is that it ends terribly for the main character he gets repercussions for him being an absolute dickhead psychopath the whole game the only problem is there was never any reasonable motive for him to do the dumb shit in the first place
extra fun weird stuff: there are motorbikes on the sidewalks and next to roads and stuff and they are my favourite vehicle you can ride, but unlike every other type there are never any other people riding them. the whole city leaves em around and thats it
some police like to glitch out and just sit still in their cars forever and just yell out police commands when they& #39;re chasing you. you can run around and over their car the only thing they ever do is get other police set on you
the final mission for a serial killer sidequest series has u confront the serial killer in a very typical boring crime encounter like the ones that they have randomly littered around the game and thats how they end when all the clues u find about his murders are super secret..
and hes all mysterious and breathes at u heavy through the phone and its like oooh shit hes a problem then in the end he just walks up to a woman in broad daylight tried to murder and u beat him up with one button end of questline
im gonna cap off this thread with stuff i liked about the game:
despite desperately trying to target the main gamer demographic hard, which is not known for acceptance, the messaging in the game and the way they portray the world is fairly progressive
like it puts in the effort to have some real representation of culture and social issues and thats at least a little neat despite being none of the focus. another cool thing is the game doesnt run like shit despite being made for consoles
i also like that when u crash a motorcycle u fly off really far and thats about it for the things i liked that they actually intended, but it all amounts to a pretty dang fun game since it lets u make ur own fun most of the time
