Had a quick look on the Dribbble front page today and there's definitely a certain style happening among most designers.

Is there a name for it that I may have missed?
Say what you want about it, but two interesting observations:

1. Overall design execution (across the global design community) has improved greatly over the years, while it might appear nonexclusive or generic, it has a broad appeal.
2. There's a new found "Kawaii" aspect to modern interaction design (Japan & others have had it for years).

Cute characters, round friendly shapes and a "feel good attitude" that has a great psychological effect (there a few interesting studies on it)
"Kawaii" may be seen as a function here. Especially in a world that desperately needs the distraction it can help provide.

The western world might slowly discover its potential.
