Listened to tapes of my father talking about his immigration to the US. He joined the Air Force in 1950 and took an aviation cadet test which was graded MORON. A captain questioned my dad about it and discovered, my father spoke almost no English. They tested him again in German,

and he demonstrated he'd had two years of German engineering school, and showed the "educated German" he'd learned from the Nazis who'd adopted and schooled him. My father, the "moron," graduated from MIT in 1957.

My father would probably try to make this instructive for me, about not listening when other people try to define you.
