I had resolved to remove myself from Twitter permanently, but I realized that I can't do that just yet. I can't do that without apologizing to my black tweeps who were disappointed. I am truly sorry.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to make me understand. /1
Thank you for recognizing in me a person who is capable of learning from her mistakes. Discussion and conversation, as well as being able to see the fundamental decency in others, is the only way we'll build a better future. /2
I'm going to leave this up here for a couple of days in hopes that all the people who need to see it will see it. I didn't want to leave it like that, not after all these years of fighting the good fight. /3
Also, I'd like to add that I know I handled this poorly by jumping off. But I was in a bad mental space, and MAGA and 🌹 found the post and most of the 'discussion' I was seeing was insincere and harassing, so I doubled down. But people reached out and explained. /4
With distance, good conversation, and, well, sobriety, I came to understand that I didn't exactly cover myself in glory. And I came to understand that I hurt people I've come to care about. I couldn't leave it like that.

Again, I apologize. Sincerely and deeply. /5
