i‘ve seen things like this so i wanna make a thread about it. anti-Blackness is not an individualized act and is a global phenomenon. critical support for China means acknowledging this while not producing yellow peril, red scare rhetoric, nationalism, and sinophobia. https://twitter.com/ceewinniexo/status/1250449398947033099
Qiao Collective folks released a pretty good thread that i retweeted myself earlier. however, non-individualized anti-Blackness / anti-African racism / isn’t mentioned here, so this unintentionallly downplays how pervasive anti-Blackness is in China.

the official statement from the Foreign Ministry linked says “The Chinese government treats all foreigners in China equally. This is China's consistent policy and position. African friends will be treated fairly, justly and friendly in China.”
it’s a good statement, but in reality i’m pretty sure that Western foreigners are treated better than African foreigners in China, and if not by the gov’t lawfully, by Chinese people outside that scope.
