YOUNG, DUMB AND KIDNAPPED.
(Thread)
I was born in the glorious city of Ibadan.
Spent a significant part of my life there and so naturally, I got my nursery, primary and a part of my secondary education in Ibadan nile Oluyole.
It was a hot afternoon in February, I was an 8 year old girl, in my Praise Nursery & Primary school uniform, primary 3 was hard but I never ran out of energy. “Baba cut it into half for us” I said to the FanMilk vendor.
My teeth weren’t as sensitive as they are now, so I was biting away the reward of all the hours I spent sitting down to listen to verbal and quantitative reasoning and my friend, Tolu, was doing the same. Gang shiii
Now, we were supposed to wait for my grandma to pick the both of us up because we didn’t live far from the school. We lived in Oke-Ayo, so it was roughly a 20 minute walk. Then our kidnapper shows up; pregnant, sweaty and carrying a heavy black bag.
“Tofunmi, how are you?” I went
“I’m your mom’s tailor and she told me to give some of her clothes to you, but you have to follow me to my shop” this was a very credible thing to say because my mom had a salon at Joyce-B road.
But as a sharp girl, I said “my mom didn’t leave with any clothes this morning o”
She goes “it’s not from today, it was last week” then she touched my head, omo, me I don’t know how but I told her “okay let’s go”
Now, if you’re very familiar with Ibadan, especially Akinyemi way, the road goes from the junction, down to Ayede NEPA Office and Sacred Hearts(sp??) school.
Just next to my school then was a short cut that led to the back of the school, so I told her to let’s go that way because there was a woman that was selling snacks just next to my school and she knew my grandma.
Whenever I saw us approaching anywhere where I knew people, this was my reaction. “ABORT ABORT”
