Customer acquisition - getting leads
Customers posting their success stories (& nothing else)
User-generated content & support wasn't essential, 2 4 years later

They wanted to buy a Khoros or Higher Logic platform solely to drive leads or for customers to only use it to post a success story.

This falls into the startup trap of
"I want that community thing"
"Gimme one of them platforms my competition uses"
"We will have customers register & later figure out what the hell they should be doing"
"Building an audience is click-install, right?"

Needless to say, they didn't like the answers I gave them back.
I'm fine with that. Some companies don't realize community isn't an online registration form.
