I see that despite having written about classism before some still do not understand it. Perhaps at some point I’ll write about it again but people misunderstand. In a classist system it’s not just top down. Everyone has their station. There are things for example that the Queen
cannot do in a classist system because that would be beneath her station. And it’s not just the top of a classist system that enforces it. To the contrary, sometimes it’s the people toward the bottom who do. For example, please rewatch how the Downton servants would treat
anyone who lacked pedigree because of birth. The staff would find all kinds of ways to let them know they weren’t all that. Similarly it’s completely plausible that while the RF is culpable for a lot of Meghan’s treatment that she also independently got bad treatment from the
courtiers and the staff. The two are not mutually exclusive. And no all it takes isn’t just one directive from the Queen. The staff and courtiers have their own areas that they rule and their own power base. Getting rid of a system like that takes structural changes.
Please stop injecting top-down CEO thinking to a situation where is does not fit neatly.
Addendum: there are two good examples of consorts coming in and trying to change the system: Albert and Phillip. They found the staff and courtiers very resistant to change. They won some battles and lost some. And yes, the staff even undermined them. It's not easy.
