Today, a close family friend is being laid to rest with very few family & friends by his side. That was yesterday’s 10th confirmed Covid 19 death. A man of great character & supportive to those around him, he was bound to attract hundreds on his final journey....

His wife doesn’t get to say goodbye as she’s in isolation... The selected pallbearers carrying his coffin would have been wearing tailored suits but they didn’t know the suits they’d be wearing today would be of a protective kind against an invisible enemy....

Having had no history of travel there’s uncertainty where he contracted it from. Due to preferred burial arrangements clashing with time constraints (48 hour govt stipulated period), he can’t be laid to rest at his rural home, very much the family’s preference.

At this point, it’s evident that there is no normal. Preference goes out the window.
Abnormality is the new normal.

Please, stay home and protect yourself and your loved ones at all costs. It doesn’t need to get to this point so you can see the seriousness of this pandemic. Don’t wait for human lives to turn into statistics so you can act.

Remember, the numbers we keep hearing about are not just statistics but actual people with family and friends. So please, take this thing with all the seriousness it deserves. Tafadhali.
