That feeling when you've been working on a @centrefordp report for a year, it's printed & delivered...And then the biggest crisis in a generation hits. You re-read it...

And realise your call to action is now more relevant than ever!

Report here: https://www.disasterprotection.org/crisisfinance  1/7
Key messages:

1. The future can and should be planned for. Unlikely things happen but that doesn’t mean countries should be caught off guard. Need to rebalance aid from discretionary ex-post crisis funding towards pre-agreed financing deals/packages. https://www.disasterprotection.org/s/Crisis-financing-logic.pdf 3/7
2. We need innovative crisis finance instruments @ scale. This won’t come from finance experts working in a vacuum, but from better linking of instruments w/crisis objectives, accountability mechanisms, engaging vulnerable, & strategic risk-approaches. https://www.disasterprotection.org/s/Updated-Crisis-Financing-Instruments.pdf 4/7
4. Language matters. I’m particularly happy with our new proposed definitions for crisis, #crisisfinancing ‘crisis #riskfinancing’ & ‘crisis financing instruments’. The international system can use for #covid19's lessons & the coming #climatecrisis https://www.disasterprotection.org/s/Key-terms.pdf  6/7
Please explore the main report, The Future of Crisis Financing: A Call To Action, and supporting briefs, shared above.
