Clubs angry that football leagues are having to be wrapped up early should, going forward, future-proof themselves against things of this nature happening again by trying to be less shite at football.
My approach would be this - in order to ensure that a season wrapping up early due to an unforeseen and unprecedented global crisis does not adversely affect my club, I would attempt to ensure that my team is “winning games” and “not shite”.
It would need a cohesive plan, and if I was in charge of one of these clubs, it would be as follows:
1: Don’t be miles behind opposition clubs.
2: Don’t even be slightly behind opposition clubs.
3: Don’t be absolutely shite at football.
I don’t want this thread to be taken as any kind of attack on those clubs right now who are angry at the fact that they are shite at football. I have huge sympathy for those clubs who aren’t as good at football as their opposition. I send my best to them, genuinely.
I’m only suggesting, as a neutral, that in future - should they still exist - they should take an approach of “winning games”, “scoring goals” and “not being shite”. Old-fashioned ideas, maybe. But I do feel this is the single best defence against a crisis like this one.
