The efforts by Captain Moore are magnificent, but donors need to be aware they're NOT giving money to the NHS or to frontline carers. The charity, which was registered in November, is an umbrella body that provides support and advocacy for those involved in charity management.
At present, and I hope I'm wrong, there is no indication that the £12,277,099.15 raised so far is being distributed to NHS charities. Instead, it is going to a charity that provides 'information and training for trustees and senior staff'. This is not 'giving money to the NHS'.
Yes, as some people have told me, 'NHS Charities give £1 million a day to the NHS', but the money being raised is going to a specific body called the 'Association of NHS Charities'. That is NOT equivalent to 'NHS Charities'.
Important to realise that the Association of NHS Charities was established in November 2019, and therefore pre-coronavirus. Its aims are not to give money to the NHS or even to NHS charities, but to provide support for those charities.
This is what Association of NHS Charities does. It trades as 'NHS Charities Together' and it does NOT give money to the NHS or NHS charities. It is a support org. Indeed, some of that money will be going to 'bespoke conferences and training opportunities'. https://www.nhscharitiestogether.co.uk/what-we-do/
