Genuine question: Plenty of UK residents kicking their heels right now, so why are companies flying in workers for fruit/veg picking/packing? Did they even try to recruit domestically? Surely many people here would be happy of the work, or are the pay and conditions too poor?
To be clear: I'm all for people moving around for work, but amazed there's any need right now. There are a lot of people living in the UK needing work, so what's preventing them filling the agri vacancies? Is it their choice, or that of the employers?
Thanks for all the replies. Interesting points to think about.
