(1) Amazon's Associates (affiliates) just got word yesterday that they (we) have a week until commissions are cut by upwards of 80%. This is going to be devastating to a lot of people who rely solely on Amazon Associates for income (niche websites, especially)
(2) There are alternatives though, but not all websites/programs are created equal. I've updated a bit of my workshop that I'm hosting tomorrow (ironically, about affiliate marketing) to include information about this change, and also some alternatives, too, that may work.
(3) It's really all about being creative in finding products that can serve your audience, and hopefully many have built an email list with their brands, however I'm guessing that's not going to be the majority of associates. 😕 You could also create your own products, too...
(4) But I understand it's way easier and convenient to find a link on Amazon, promote it, and have cash come your way. I mean, I do it too, and I will be affected as well. But I think this'll be a big eye opener for those who just had the single source income stream...
(5) On a platform that is governed by someone else. We saw this in 2017 with rate changes back then, too, but this is way more devastating. But for many, I'm hoping, this will be a big eye-opener and blessing in disguise. Diversify. Control your platform. Build an audience + list
(6) If you'd like to join me on my affiliate marketing masterclass (Thursday at NOON Pacific), you can click here to register: http://www.smartpassiveincome.com/webinar1  - Lots of info for how to do affiliate marketing outside of Amazon, and full disclosure I will be talking about my course, too.
(7) To me, affiliate marketing is the most underutilized way to monetize online - it's had a bad rap over the years from people promoting crap, but I teach it in a way where everyone wins, and your list grows, too. Hope to see you at the masterclass!
