Her words are being twisted but finally someone on the same page as me.

Certain restrictions (Social Distancing, large gatherings - inc sports/concerts etc, shielding of elderly & vulnerable) have to remain until there is a vaccine.

FWIW I doubt there will ever be a “cure”. https://twitter.com/nadinedorries/status/1250494730451836928
Ultimately many people in high risk groups will have to make a conscious choice between physical health (ie take your chances and live your life) or mental health (shielding yourself indefinitely will take its toll).
I think some still haven’t grasped that Lockdown is to prevent healthcare systems being overwhelmed.

It’s not going to rid the world of COVID.

It’s not going to shrivel up and die. In fact it’ll likely mutate as viruses do.

It doesn’t work to a clock or a calendar.
But is COVID going to be any “more” dangerous than all of the pre-existing nasties out there that high risk groups face that could knock them sideways (or kill them)?

Seasonal flu, pneumonia, salmonella, listeria etc etc etc

After Lockdown/Shielding COVID is still here.
So, my opinion remains. Measures like we currently have - SD, no mass gatherings, severely restricted global travel etc will remain.

18-24 months is the timescale in my head. Hopefully by then a vaccine will be rolled out to protect those most at risk (like the Flu jab).
