A doctored newspaper I found on the train a few years ago. Scarily on the nose. Anyone else feeling increasingly uncomfortable with the idea of the NHS as a charity? Loads of people are doing amazing stuff to raise money for the
NHS right now and that’s to be applauded, of course
NHS right now and that’s to be applauded, of course
It all helps. It’s important. It’s much needed. And that’s the problem. We have somehow got to the stage where a 100 year old man gets dizzy walking around his garden to raise money for a publicly owned service that has been chronically underfunded for so long.
It doesn’t feel right to me. It’s not fecking Comic Relief. It’s OURS. It’s our most precious national institution. It was hard fought for. And when you cut it to the bone in an attempt to undermine public confidence, thus paving the way for making privatisation easier...
And then a viral pandemic happens, well. We see the results every day. To add insult to injury people are expected to use the online giving platform of that twuntbag Branson, a man who SUED the NHS and is busy bidding for the most profitable bits of the NHS
(in England, with full #thatsdevolved nod) to donate money? It’s a joke. A sick one. I will continue to clap and donate. But the NHS is NOT A CHARITY and neither should it be. It shouldn’t rely on the generosity of people facing uncertain futures to get through this crisis.
