mlms are predatory pyramid schemes with trash products and an unethical business model who prey on vulnerable people: a thread
i thought this was important to bring up because i have seen so many mlms preying on people to recruit (during the worst economic recession since the great depression)
what is an mlm?
Multi Level Marketing is a form of direct sales home business in which independent representatives sell products or services from a company to an end customer- (the balance smb)
the definition sounds great, however... the reality is much... much different
here’s an accurate business model at what a MLM looks like compared to your standard 9-5 job that “boss babes” continually degrade.
while we are at it, here are some mlm companies you’ve probably seen being promoted on your local boss babe’s instagram.
the way a person gets recruited into a MLM usually looks like this. AKA, insincere manipulation.
now let’s talk about what actually happens once someone gets recruited. (i watched both of my parents get sucked into MLMs and watched them lose COPIOUS amounts of money, so i’ve seen what happens and done my research!!)
you will have higher ups or “mentors”.. like they like to call them. these mentors will boss around absolutely every move you make. whether it’s how much you’re posting on your instagram or how many people you’re harassing (oops sorry i meant messaging)
you’re expected to buy you’re own inventory to sell and i hate to break it to y’all, but it’s very very unlikely you will sell all of your inventory. ESPECIALLY right now while we are in the middle of a global pandemic. Becky, no one needs essential oils and fizzies rn
This is what will make people working under mlms DESPERATE. They will continue to spam you with “ask me about my product” stories on instagram and will continually try to recruit and manipulate people into joining their team.
most people in MLMs will spend more money on buying the inventory than actually making money... and that is a fact.
people in mlms will try to recruit you by promising this dream of making tons of money just by sitting at home and promoting product... anyways thought i’d add this in here for some entertainment and facts (courtesy of kiki chanel on yt)
another argument boss babes love to bring up is “multi level marketing isn’t a pyramid scheme, pyramid schemes are illegal so if mlms were illegal, we would be shut down”

well becky, so are drugs but people still buy them and profit off of them.
also, many mlms have class action lawsuits against them so tell me your beloved mlm isn’t a pyramid scheme and that your products are life changing again girl
not to mention the totally disgusting, condescending and entitled attitudes some of these girls have towards people who work regular jobs and to people who don’t “support their business”

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF MLM SCAMMERS... | ANTI-MLM via @YouTube
(i just want to point out i’m totally not saying all people involved in mlms are bad) if you are in a MLM, you were most likely preyed upon in a vulnerable position and wanted to believe in this fantasy of making money on the side just by promoting product at home.
but ANYWAYS, last thing i want to touch on is the outrageous and bogus claims some of these companies make.
exhibit A) using a global pandemic to promote your product and claiming it builds a “defense” to the coronavirus without any scientific proof or any doctor recommendations.

this is just a pure lie to take advantage of people during a trying time
essentials oils will not cure or prevent the coronavirus... but i would think most people are smart enough to know that so i will move on.
my point here is, please stop supporting these corrupt pyramid schemes who disguise themselves as “mlms.” they are predatory, unethical, and greedy. please don’t be fooled, please get out while you can, or i can absolutely guarantee you, you will lose your hard-worked for money.
and with all of that being said: i think this ends this thread perfectly:
