I’m trying to get a refund from @eventbrite for tickets to a concert that was canceled because of the Coronavirus. They say I don’t meet the criteria for a refund, so here is a thread of proof.
I purchased my tickets to go see @Thundercat at the @TheRivChicago on 2/26 to see him in concert on 3/15. Here is my email confirmation.
On 3/12, I received an email from @TheRivChicago letting me know Illinois had banned large public gatherings and what I needed to do if my event were postponed, or if it were cancelled. In the event of getting a refund for cancellation, I would need to go through @eventbrite.
Here is that email
On 3/13, @Thundercat announced he was cancelling his tour. There has been nothing mentioned about postponing it, just the words cancelled. No rescheduled dates as of yet either.
I waited until a couple days ago to try to get a refund from @eventbrite hoping that there was going to be a reschedule, but it looks like gatherings of that size won’t be permitted for a long time. So I start the refund process by filling out an easy form on their website.
I received this email tonight saying I didn’t meet the criteria for a refund. Pay attention to the criteria and look back at the proof in this thread.
1. The event was cancelled, by the State of Illinois, City of Chicago, and by @Thundercat himself.
2. My tickets were purchased on 2/26.
3. The event was scheduled for 3/15.
4. @TheRivChicago has not indicated a new date or alternate form of accommodation.
@eventbrite you’ve made a mistake, please refund me my money.
