People are outraged by this headline. Meh. Having been treated to thousands of headlines featuring some variation on this hurricane, earthquake, tsunami, recession, disease, etc., is “God’s punishment for homosexuality,” I’m having a hard time getting exercised about this piece. https://twitter.com/lgbtqnation/status/1250620686487351296

It’s only jarring because it’s being said about them. No one even notices — much less gets outraged — when they say the exact same shit again and again and again about gay people.

But they get a pass because they’re just right wing “Christian” assholes doing their right wing “Christian” asshole thing. We, on the other hand, are required to be flawlessly respectful at all times to these assholes.

Only time in my entire life that I remember any of these assholes getting any serious pushback was when Jerry Falwell tried to blame 9/11 on gay and lesbians.

And, oh man, they were positively gleeful about AIDS. Millionaire televangelists celebrated our deaths on their cable channels. They praised God for condemning gay men to excruciating, terrifying, lonely and painful deaths. And people shrugged. No one cared.

Soooooo... yeah. Whatever to this headline. I’ve heard a lot worse. The people outraged by this headline have heard worse too — but it was said about gay people so it didn’t even register.
