Also, I can't even remember what I'm trying to do here. My mind has basically thrown out about 15 years of world models, leaving me in this weird Tabula Rasa state.

My extreme need to have a coherent (if sometimes vague) world model has served me well, but updates are crippling.
It feels weirdly like starting from scratch: how do I take the things I know, and reapply them to the world we now live in?

I don't know what the art of the possible is any more, because I don't know where the walls, floor or ceiling have moved to.

World's in freefall now.
Like, what actually matters? What are we fighting for now? Free PPE and universal basic income? Rule by competent epidemiologists, rather than by whatever bozo looks good on TV?

This upcoming famine: do we know how bad it's going to be? Africa, India, South America. Not EU/US.
I give up. It's no longer about maintaining or adapting the current world model, it's about reseeing from scratch, starting over. Like a child, almost.

I am glad @Mattereum is deep: as long as there are people, and things, we have a role: masks to the Mona Lisa maybe. That's OK.
But, really, I can't think of a single cultural movement who don't look like a bunch of disassociated clowns in this situation: the right are throwing parties and going Full Orwell, left are self-immolating.

The Mormons, peppers and CDC are about the only people left standing.
"How stupid did your ideas look during the Great Covid Epidemic, daddy?"

I was a flu planner, it's not like this thing is news to me. My company is directly applicable to this crisis. Built sane.

But, really, what the hell is left as solid intellectual ground? What's real?
"9/11 changed everything" they used to say, but I don't know - most of what came next was long foreseen. This bug, too, is within planning parameters.

I think the real shocker here is how poor most Americans are, how eaten away their resilience has been since 2009. Big news.
I think we are now in "anything could happen" type history: aliens, Bigfoot, leaks of classified physics, world government, no government, 6 Americas, internet democracy.

I just could not bet against anything right now, except the status quo.

Humans won't change. Reality might.
