Let me tell you all about how my five year old son is an evil genius.
So, I work during the day, and my son's dad stays home with him while I'm at work. He works overnights, so he sleeps during the day. He sleeps on the couch downstairs, but he's a heavy sleeper.
A few days ago, I got a birthday package from my mom. Among other things, it contained three beaded necklaces that she handmade for me. Now, my kid is obsessed with beads. I've bought him so many, and he loves to make his own necklaces and bracelets.
He immediately loved my necklaces and asked me if he could have beads. In the letter she wrote me, my mom said if I didn't like the necklaces I could use the beads to make something else, so I was contemplating giving them to him. Some of the beads are glass, others very small.
Today, I came home, and Kyle showed me a bracelet our son had made. One of the beads looked very similar to some of the beads that were on my necklaces, but honestly, I hadn't looked at them closely, so I wasn't sure. We checked, all three necklaces were still in their box.
My son's dad even apologized to him for getting upset with him for thinking that he had messed with my necklaces, which he had denied doing.
Cut to tonight as he's getting ready for work. He grabbed a pair of pants from the laundry room and a bunch of tiny beads went rolling across the kitchen floor. Tiny beads that I knew I did not buy for my son. The same tiny beads that were used to make those damn necklaces.
We inspected the three necklaces, but couldn't find any breakage or missing beads. I was fairly certain that if he had broke in one of them, there was no way he would have been able to tie it or fasten it back together.
As I was putting the necklaces back, I noticed two of them were tangled, so I pulled them apart. One of the necklaces broke, sending beads flying. It was at this moment that I noticed that several of the beads were plastic and colorful, like the beads he keeps in his art center.
Upon further inspection, we noticed that half of the bead pattern was slightly different than the other half. You guys, my 5yo undid the necklace, took half the beads off, stole the big bead he wanted, tried to replicate the damn pattern, and SOMEHOW tied it back together.
I guess as he dropped the tiny beads, he just replaced them with beads from his collection. And we never even freaking noticed. That little turd lied to our faces, and even forgave his dad for being angry at him, when he had done something wrong all along.
Sorry that this thread was so long, but his dad and I ended up having a good laugh about it and I wanted to share. I'm not that mad, although I wish he would stop doing sneaky things like this and lying. I guess I'll be giving him the beads after all. Brilliant, little shit.
